With the changing trends, the era of clean-shaven look has lost its charm – a bearded look is now on a roll. A well-groomed, styled beard defines the metrosexuality of a man. But those who face trouble in growing facial hair (beard, moustache, sidelocks) or have an unsatisfactory growth can find an efficient solution in Facial Hair Transplant. It is effective for hair loss, lack of proper/desired growth, burn or injury.
Consider the pictures below.
When this patient walked into our Hairsure Hair Transplant clinic, this is how he looked. His self-esteem was a bit bruised because of a lack of facial hair.
We tried to understand his expectations and began to plan.
Once the expectations were set and the plan was made, the next step was to give our man the facial hair he wanted. Here’s how he looked post surgery.
Within a month, he grew a beard, and more importantly, restored his self esteem and confidence.
If you are wondering how this transformation happened, or want to get this for yourself too, here’s a blog you might want to read.
What is Beard Transplantation?
Beard Transplantation is a surgical procedure which enhances the beard density or constructs a new beard altogether. The same procedure may also involve building the moustache and the sidelocks. It involves harvesting suitable hair follicles/tissues from a place where it is abundant and transplant it in the desired area.
How can you prepare yourself for beard transplantation?
The first and the most important thing to do is to find the right place. Although it is not a very critically serious procedure, it takes a very skillful hand and a patient mind to carry out the deed. HairSure has gained a good reputation in performing such procedures. We have the best doctors here who are highly experienced in this regard. At the clinic, first, you get to consult with the doctor and express your requirements. The doctor will suggest different tests to figure out your skin’s configurations and plan out a procedure which will suit you the best.
What can you expect on the day of your beard transplantation?
When you reach the hospital on your scheduled day, the doctor may ask you to be on a certain diet and give you instructions on how to calm your nerves and not to stress out the target area of operation.
During the beard transplantation, the surgeon will harvest live hair tissues (grafts) and put it in the target area which is your beard, moustache or your sidelocks. The number of grafts transplanted decides the cost of the surgery. Hence, the cost will vary from subject to subject. The grafts need to be implanted very skilfully at the same exact angle as the natural direction of hair growth. This step is crucial for a natural and an aesthetically pleasing hair growth. At the same time, surgeons try to make the minimum required incision to minimise the chance of undesired scarring.
The beard transplantation surgery is minimally invasive and nearly painless, requiring only local anaesthesia. But it may be a lengthy procedure taking 2-5 hours. Depending on the severity, it may even take a few sessions. However, it needs to be noted that hair transplantation is permanent. Once the beard transplantation is done, it cannot be undone or restored.
When can you get back to your normal life?
Facial Hair Transplantation needs the most hassle-free after-care. The subjects are generally allowed to go back to their home and daily life (except for any strenuous activities) on the second day of the surgery. It may feed a little uncomfortable on the operated area but there will be nearly no pain. But if at all you do feel pain, the doctor will give you minor painkillers. However, the operated area should be kept dry and should not be exposed to sunlight for the next five days. Tiny crusts may be found around each transplanted hair. This is very normal. The sutures will dissolve automatically within a week.
The transplanted hairs fall out within a week or two. DO NOT panic. This is a part of the procedure. New hair will spurt out in 3-4 months. One the new hair starts growing they will look natural, and they can be treated like natural hair. It can be shaved or groomed as desired.
Are there any risks involved in beard transplantation?
Facial Hair Transplantation is not a very complicated procedure. Nonetheless, it’s a surgery and we should be aware of certain risks, however rare their chances of appearance may be. The most common risks are scarring and infection which may be a result of an incompetent surgery or poor after-care. This is, again, why you need to pick the right place and follow the doctor’s instructions carefully.
Facial Hair Transplantation is becoming very popular in various parts of the world. It is a very advanced technique which allows you to grow hair even in many difficult areas. A lot of people around the world has benefitted from Facial Hair Transplantation. At HairSure, we take pride in being an active contributor to this growing global medical trend.
